Community Houses are small social service organizations located directly within 15 social housing neighbourhoods in Ottawa, offering community-based programs and supports for individuals and families.
Community Houses are highly connected and are a hub to connect residents to each other and to services they identify as important.
Established in 1998, the Ottawa Coalition of Community Houses strives to strengthen the impact of place-based, barrier-free support programs and services in social housing neighbourhoods along with increasing opportunities for community engagement and the success of residents.
Through collaboration, the 15 member organizations work together to address issues of poverty, social and cultural isolation, and other issues affecting Ottawa Housing communities and their residents.
Community Houses work closely with Ottawa's non-profit sector, the City of Ottawa, funders and local business to ensure resources and opportunities are accessible to low-income families and individuals in social housing neighbourhoods.
